The Insight Toolkit (ITK)

The Insight Toolkit (ITK) is “an open-source, cross-platform system that provides developers with an extensive suite of software tools for image analysis.” It is a powerful platform for developing image processing and analysis programs, and provides a useful set of libraries for research in medical image analysis.

Below are some pointers to the standard ITK resources made available by Kitware. I have also posted slides and accompanying files of an ITK workshop I ran while at Yale.

Some Useful ITK Resources

• The ITK Software Guide – The most comprehensive book on ITK. An indispensable reference. Free PDF.

• API documentation – Documentation of ITK classes and methods. The Alphabetical List is particularly useful.

• ITK Tutorials – Slides presented at ITK tutorials. Useful after grasping the basic idea/framework of ITK.

• ITK Wiki – A basic wiki maintained by Kitware.

• ITKEclipseCMake Setup – A great article on setting up the Eclipse IDE with ITK.
